Abstract
We propose high resolution spectroscopy of the three symbiotic stars, HM Sge, He 2-106, and H1-36 to secure Raman-scattered He II features blueward of hydrogen Balmer lines including H gamma and H delta. These three objects have highly excited emission nebula around the hot star surrounded by a heavy neutral component associated with the mass loss process that had occurred in the previous giant stage. The total flux, line width and line center locations of these Raman-scattered He II features blueward of H gamma and possibly H delta will be carefully measured to build refined scattering geometry in these objects including the covering factor, H I column density and the expansion speed of the neutral component. We request 3.5 hours of spectroscopic observations using GHOST to take full advantage of broad spectral coverage and high spectroscopic resolving power.
