Abstract
The main goal of this project is to confirm a preliminar relation between single Am stars and Brown Dwarfs (BDs). The relevance of this relation is clear: this could mitigate or solve the single Am problem, it may benefit the search of BDs, and could even provide a combined scenario to the formation of both Am stars and BDs. Then, we propose to observe a sample of early-type stars with and without low-mass companions (giant planets and BDs). The data will directly impact the study of the proposed relation, significantly increasing the number of stars analyzed. In addition, the complete sample would be the largest group of early-type stars homogeneously studied to date. The data will also enable us to address additional problems, such as to study the possible link between hot-Jupiter planets and lambda Bootis stars. Considering that the analysis require only few observations, we believe that they are excellent targets for GHOST.
