Abstract
We propose to observed high-quality, near-IR spectra of a set of bright K-giants with the IGRINS spectrometer, yielding the full H and K bands at once at high signal-to-noise ratio. The stars are chosen from a set of stars with highly accurate and precise stellar parameters and abundances based on high-quality optical spectra analyzed by us. The near-IR, IGRINS spectra will be used for (i) a careful analysis of suitable abundance sensitive lines, (ii) developing methods to determine accurate stellar temperatures and surface gravities, (iii) as well as for yielding a necessary spectral reference sample. All these outcomes are necessary bases for a lot of other spectral investigations in the near-IR with IGRINS in order to be able to yield results with as high accuracy as possible from the spectral investigations. The brightness of the chosen stars make them excellent poor-weather objects.
