Abstract

Time-domain astronomy studies how astronomical objects change with time. It becomes more important to understand the nature of variable/transient astronomical sources, especially in the LSST era. In order to prepare for time-domain astronomy in the LSST era, we have performed the time-series observation with KMTNet for interesting variable sources reported by the alerts from various projects. Spectroscopic identification of these sources plays a critical role in revealing the nature of the detected variability. Therefore, we propose the Gemini Poor Weather program to obtain the optical spectra of the sources and to identify their characteristics allowing us to classify them. This program will provide crucial information leading to the explanation of variability. Additionally, this project will release the templates merging spectral class and time-series photometry, which makes us understand the events discovered by large surveys in the near future.
