Abstract

Accretion is a critical mechanism in protoplanetary disk dispersal and heating. Understanding how this accretion takes place and under what conditions has important implications for disk evolution. Currently, it is unknown how accretion occurs in intermediate-mass pre-main sequence stars (i.e., Herbig Ae/Be stars, HAeBes). We will characterize the accretion of gas onto HAeBes using high-resolution, near-infrared spectroscopy paired with radiative transfer models. Here, we propose to observe 70 HAeBes with IGRINS on Gemini South as part of an ongoing accretion survey.
