Abstract

We will perform a new GMOS galaxy redshift survey at z = 0.1 - 0.7 in the fields of 8 QSOs that have been observed with Hubble's Cosmic Origins Spectrograph and imaged with HST. With over 600-800 new galaxy redshifts (a 20x gain over present surveys) we will fill the existing map of circumgalactic medium (CGM) gas out to 3 virial radii to address the 2D structure of the CGM, the extent of metal transport and recycling, and the mechanisms of galaxy quenching in halos and large-scale environments. This program will complete a unique dataset with a substantial legacy value.
