Program: GS-2012B-SV-407

Since 2008 our collaboration has pioneered the use of Laser Guide Star Adaptive Optics on Gemini North to reveal the previously-hidden population of core-collapse supernovae within Luminous Infrared Galaxies (LIRGs). We now wish to extend our survey to the southern LIRGs using the significant improvement in PSF uniformity offered by GSAOI with GeMS. As a "proof of concept" we are seeking SV time to confirm a supernova candidate in the LIRG ESO 440-IG058 recently imaged with NACO on the VLT.
