Abstract
We propose to observe the SN associated with intrinsically bright GRBs at z~0.5. Using GMOS, we will measure the broadband photometric evolution of GRBs during the phase when their SN should be bright, and then take spectra of any emerging SN at 4 epochs. These data will be used to model the ejected mass, explosion energy, and 56Ni production of the SN. Such modelling has so far only been done for 1 bright GRB (2003dh). By increasing the sample, we can hope to better understand the range of progenitors and explosion physics that leads to the typical GRBs which are studied at large redshifts.
