Abstract

Gravitational lensing has proved to be a powerful probe of the distribution of dark matter in galaxies, while the accompanying magnification can reveal exquisite detail in high redshift sources. The resolution of any reconstruction is implicitly tied with the data fidelity, ideally requiring high resolution, high signal-to-noise imaging. We will obtain multi-colour, high-resolution images with GMOS of confirmed and candidate gravitational lensed galaxies drawn from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. Using a state-of-the-art Bayesian approach to gravitational lens inversion, these sources will be reconstructed to provide an unparalleled view of high-redshift galaxies, while simultaneously determining the quantity and distribution of dark matter within the lensing galaxies.
