Abstract

We have an object which could be a poor weather target, the solitaire-like Ring galaxy FM 47-02. This galaxy is a remarkable unstudied object of the family of the Peculiar Ring Galaxies (pRG). It is probably the result of a tidal interaction process. FM 47-02 shows an off-center nucleus, a large smooth ring structure with faint knots, and a companion galaxy with a huge faint halo in the field. The purpose of the proposed program is to conduct a kinematical study based on spectroscopic observations (MgIb, NaID, H-alpha, [NII] and [SII] lines) in order to proceed a spectral classification of the nuclear components of both galaxies, to identify regions of induced star formation, to see whether there is nuclear activity in both objects, to build rotation curves along one pre-selected slit position, which encompasses both nuclei, which are bright enought to be identified, and two slices of the ring of FM 47-02.
