Abstract
This proposal aims at obtaining moderate S/N spectra of a sample of very blue globular cluster (GC) around NGC 1399, the central galaxy in the Fornax Cluster. Contrary to the red GC population, blue GCs show a high degree of homogeneity from galaxy to galaxy and almost no correlation with the properties of their host galaxies. Their kinematic behaviors seem to be different, too.
Two GMOS fields (with the B600 grating blazed at 5000 A) are requested, in order to obtain detailed kinematics for some 70 very blue GCs (with a contamination level of 10 to 15 percent). This will increase the sample of this kind of clusters including objects with a mean magnitude V=22.15 mag.
These data would provide a solid basis for a confrontation of the observations with the different galaxy formation models currently available in the literature.
