Abstract
We propose to use GMOS-S in the blue medium resolution MOS mode (B600 grating) to measure the metallicities, ages and velocities of young star clusters in the tidal tails of the merger remnant NGC3256. The results complement data taken a year ago on the clusters in the main body of the merger. This will confirm whether the tidal tails NGC3256 are special environments for
cluster formation and will test the hypothesis that tidal tails with "tidal dwarf galaxies" form fewer clusters than those that do not.
