Abstract

We have identified a likely giant planet companion that is being accreted by its host white dwarf star. This would be only the 5th planet-mass object identified to date to orbit a white dwarf star. Our discovery spectrum was obtained with a modest resolution spectrometer on a modest size telescope. To confirm and fully reveal the nature and composition of the planet, high resolution spectra on a large telescope are essential.
