Abstract
Age is unarguably one of the most important parameters to characterize any astrophysical object. Yet, it remains still poorly constrained because the various age-dating techniques produce different results and discrepancies that reach up to 50%. The main culprit of the current state of affairs is the lack of a universal age scale and the absence of a rigorous cross-calibration between the different methods. In this project, we aim to derive a consistent age-scale for the recently discovered mu Tau young stellar association based on three methods: traceback analysis, lithium depletion boundary and isochrone fitting. In this context, we propose to conduct spectroscopic observations with MAROON-X to measure radial velocities, lithium equivalent widths, and effective temperatures of our targets which will be used in these three methods. The requested data will be combined with additional observations collected from other ground-based facilities and archival data from other high-resolution spectrographs to achieve our objectives.
