Abstract

We propose to observe the classical Be star 12 Vul (HD 187811) in a wide spectral range (J, H and K bands) with GNIRS spectrograph in XD mode. Our aim is to discuss the physical conditions, structure and kinematics of the circumstellar envelope of this star, based on the study of the relative intensity of the Pfund, Brackett and Paschen lines and the classification according to selected line flux ratios. Since the IR lines give us information about the region of the envelope close to the central star, and because of the emission observed recently in the H$\alpha$ profile, obtaining a new IR spectrum could be useful to observe the development of the new disk. Also, obtaining spectrum in the K-band could give us new information about the CO (molecule observed for the first time in a Be star in this object) emitting region, if the molecular emission is observed.
