Abstract

We propose to perform the GNIRS spectroscopic observation for nearby (z<0.36) and bright (K<13.5 mag) AGNs through the Band 3 program. The NIR spectra can alleviate the dust obscuration effects and can give us important information on the SMBH and the innermost part of the dust torus. Although X-ray, UV, optical, and radio have been used extensively for studying AGNs, the NIR spectra of AGNs have been relatively scarcely obtained. Through this observation, we will (i) assemble and make publicly available the NIR spectral template of 123 AGNs, (ii) constrain the inner radii of dust torus, and (iii) update the Paschen-line-based BH mass estimators. This program has been approved for band 3 previously. So far, 16 targets have been observed during 2021 from this program. With this program, we will continue to build up the NIR AGN spectral templates.
