Abstract

Blue stragglers can be formed via a variety of mechanims, broadly grouped in binary mass transfer and stellar collisions, but there is growing evidence that mechanisms involving only two stars may not be sufficient, and additional stars may be needed to enhance straggler formation. Here we propose a speckle interferometry survey of blue stragglers in open clusters to look for their possible companions to put constraints on the different scenarios involving triplets or higher order systems.
