Abstract
SS170 is a poorly-studied emission-line star whose nature is still unclear. Hamann and Persson (1992) classified it as a Herbig Ae/B[e] star, with conspicuous emission lines of Fe II and N I. Lamers et al. (1998) placed it with the UnclB[e] stars. However, Olofsson et al. (2009) considered it as a T Tauri star with an F6 spectral type. We aim at characterizing the near infrared spectrum of these star in a wide spectral range covering the lines of Br and Pa hydrogen series, as well as CO bandheads at 1.6 and 2.3 microns. By modeling the observed emission lines we will derive properties of its circumstellar environment.
