Abstract

Very recently, a new set of AGNs dubbed Coronal-Line Forest Active Galactic Nuclei (CLiF AGN) were introduced in the literature. These sources are characterized by a superb coronal line (CL) spectrum among other remarkable properties that constrast to what is found in typical AGNs. This proposal is aimed at collecting NIR spectra of 7 CLiF AGNs using GNIRS/SXD and NIFS to fully characterize the CLR of these objects. The larger set of CLs available in the NIR will allow us to set tighter constraints on the physical conditions producing these lines as well as to set a robust upper limit on the location of the coronal line region. If the FHILs in CLiF AGNs are indeed produced in the inner face of the torus, as models point out, a large impact in AGN research is expected from this work. Currently, no diagnostics of the torus by means of emission lines are possible in the optical/NIR.
