Abstract

We request GMOS-N MOS observations of globular clusters (GCs) and of the field stellar population of the cluster S0 galaxy NGC4382. The same set of requested observations will allow us to perform stellar population as well as kinematic analysis of the stars and GCs in the outskirts of this target. NGC4382 has been shown to contain blue GCs that are younger than the rest of the GC population. With such data we will be able to explore this scenario, placing constraints on the ages of the GC population. In particular we will investigate whether some of the blue GCs have younger ages, with respect to the rest of the GC population and if they are connected to minor merger events. This proposal has been previously accepted for the 2014A call, the pre-imaging data have been obtained and the mask has been designed, but, unfortunately, the spectra were never observed. We applied for time in the 2015A call and time was not allocated due to pressure on the available science time. In order to achieve our science goals we need 8 hours of on source spectroscopic integration time. We resubmit this proposal as BAGGS team since we believe it is an interesting project to prove lenticular galaxies formation histories.
