Abstract
Our previous survey of low-mass companions in the Taurus star forming region resulted in a small number of planetary-mass candidates. After multiple-epoch imaging follow-up we identified one strong planetary-mass candidate which requires spectroscopic confirmation. We propose to use NIFS H and K-band spectroscopy to observe a possible 3-7 M_Jupiter companion at ~1000 AU from a low-mass star. If its substellar mass can be confirmed, this would be one of the least massive objects ever directly observed in a stellar multiple system.
