Tracing the star formation history of the S0 NGC4382 with GMOS spectroscopy of globular clusters and field stars

Abstract
We request GMOS-N MOS observations of globular clusters (GCs) and field stellar population of the interesting S0 galaxy NGC4382. GCs trace major star formation episodes in the histories of their hosts. The same set of requested observations will allow us to perform stellar population as well as kinematic analysis of the stars in the outskirts of this target. NGC4382 has been claimed to contain blue GCs that are younger than the rest of the GC population. This seems to be linked to minor merging episodes. With such data we will be able to explore this scenario and also place constraints on the ages of its GC population.
