Abstract
Galaxy groups are the most common environment in which galaxies reside. The intragroup medium (IGM) of these gravitationally bound structures are thought to contain a significant fraction of the baryonic content of the local universe. We have used bent-double lobed radio sources to estimate the density of these groups by assuming that ram pressure is the cause of the bending observed in the jets. We are engaged in expanding the sample of groups hosting bent-double sources to which we apply this method. Knowledge of the dynamical state and velocity dispersion of these groups is key to our analysis. We propose to use GMOS to measure the velocities of the member galaxies in 5 groups hosting bent-double lobed radio sources.
