Abstract
We are requesting time to perform spectroscopy of member galaxies of the merging cluster A2034 (z=0.11). Merging cluster are excellent laboratories to study the formation of structures and how dark and baryonic (hot gas) matter behave in such collisions. A2034 emerged for our weak-lensing analysis with Subaru data as a particularly interesting case. It has a Southern structure that resembles the "bullet cluster" (hot gas detached from dark matter + galaxies) but a North structure with galaxies and mass but no gas and Western structure seen only in the weak-lensing mass maps. In order to understand how a collision of clusters leads to a complex scenario like this the velocities of the cluster components along the line-of-sight is an essential information that is missing. With the current project we intend to fill this gap.
