The dwarf galaxies of the Local Group are excellent test cases for studying a wide variety of environmental processes in galaxy formation. Two recently-discovered galaxies, Andromeda 28 and 29, are particularly interesting due to their isolation at >360 and >200 kpc from Andromeda, respectively. However, the basic properties of these galaxies are largely uncertain. We propose to determine whether the galaxies have recently formed stars, which will indicate if they are dwarf spheroidal or dwarf irregular galaxies, and will in either case present useful test cases for theories of dwarf galaxy evolution. We will also determine precise distances, luminosities, and sizes of the galaxies, which will further expand the growing census of Local Group dwarfs.
