Abstract
We propose to obtain follow-up imaging and spectroscopy observations of three planetary mass companion candidates found in our ongoing Gemini AO search for new multiple systems and faint companions in the young Upper Scorpius star-forming region. These observations are necessary to determine whether the candidates are truly bound companions, rather than background sources, and to derive more precise estimates of their masses if indeed they are bound. If confirmed, these companions would have masses of 6-8 Mjup, making them the lowest mass companions imaged to date around normal stars.
